Correction factors for in-plane shear strength and stiffness testing of flat angle-ply composite laminates with high Poisson’s ratios

In this paper, a method to obtain correction factors for in-plane shear properties in fibre-reinforced polymers with high Poisson’s ratio under biaxial load conditions and at loads is presented. Experimental testing shows the deviations from classical laminate theory such cases. The transverse deformation general form of and, ±45° angle-ply laminate, increases strain. This effect shown exist long short test specimens, where significant biaxiality stress state present. Reasons include fibre rotation higher tensile conditions, matrix plasticity damage initiation. Test results show that expanded formulas compensate errors strength calculation laminates which arise using nominal parameters standard formulas. are also applicable structures when contraction inhibited, e.g. panels. Further potential uses presence strains detect onset loading.
